For all those interested in hospitality and catering opportunities at Hinkley Point C, the new nuclear power station under construction, there’s a course that will fit the bill.

Starting on 10 May a 12-day course will be running to provide people with the skills and qualifications to be able to apply for a position with either HOST or Somerset Larder working on the Hinkley Point C project. It will be held at West Somerset College in Minehead.

The course will give people the chance to gain a range of qualifications including a Certificate in General Cookery and General Food and Beverage Service as well as the opportunity to develop the essential personal and employability skills required.

Partners involved include; Hinkley Point Training Agency (and their provider, N-Gaged Training), HOST, Somerset Larder, EDF Energy, Bridgwater and Taunton College, and Job Centre Plus.

The course is just one of a number of initiatives that have been launched in connection with Hinkley Point C – the largest construction project of its kind in Europe – with the aim of finding employment for local people. Some 25,000 job opportunities will be created during construction.

If you are interested please speak to either you Job Centre Work Coach or Contact Emily Swaby-Halls Job Centre Employer Adviser on 01643 435822.
