Adoption of the West Somerset Local Plan to 2032


Following consideration of the Inspector’s report on the Examination of the Plan, West Somerset Council adopted the West Somerset Local Plan to 2032 (WSLP to 2032) on 23rd November 2016.

The Adopted Plan forms part of the Development Plan for West Somerset Council’s Local Planning Authority Area and provides the basis for decisions on spatial planning within the area up to 2032 (or until superseded).

The West Somerset Local Plan to 2032 was subject to Examination by independent Inspector, Mr Brian Cook BA (Hons) DipTP MRTPI, including a series of hearings held between the 14th and 22nd March 2016. The Inspector’s Report, with its recommendations, was issued on 14th September 2016 see the Inspectors Final Report. The adopted WSLP incorporates the recommendations of the Inspector.

Inspection of adoption deposit documents:

  • the Adopted West Somerset Local Plan to 2032;
  • the West Somerset Local Plan to 2032 Adoption Statement;
  • the West Somerset Local Plan to 2032 Sustainability Appraisal Report,

are available for inspection during the adoption deposit period at:

West Somerset House, Killick Way, Williton, TA4 4QA, Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm

and also at the following public libraries at the stated opening times:

Any person aggrieved by the adoption of the West Somerset Local Plan to 2032 may make an application under Section 113 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 on the grounds that:

      a. the document is not within the appropriate power;

      b. a procedural requirement has not been complied with.

Any such application must be made no later than six weeks from the date of adoption of the Local Plan.  The last day of this period is the 3rd January 2017.
