How to Apply

Please note if you are applying for £5000 or less and you have an annual turnover of less than £100,000 you should not apply to the CIM fund – please visit www.hpcfunds.co.uk to apply to an alternative fund.

Applications for £1,000 or less


  1. The applicant submits an Expression of Interest online.
  2. If the organisation and project meet the eligibility criteria to apply for funding the applicant will be sent a Small Grant application form via email.
  3. The applicant submits their application form to the CIM Fund Manager at time convenient to the applicant.
  4. The Board considers and makes a decision in relation to the application within 4 weeks of the date the application was received by West Somerset Council.
  5. The applicant is notified of the decision.

Applications for £1,000 to £99,999

 
  1. The applicant submits an Expression of Interest online.
  2. If the organisation and project meet the eligibility criteria to apply for funding the applicant will be sent an application form via email. 
  3. The applicant returns their completed application form and the necessary supporting documents on or before their chosen deadline date
  4. The Board considers the application and makes a recommendation to West Somerset Council to approve or refuse the application - approximately 6 weeks after the deadline date.
  5. If the applicant is applying for under £25,000  a decision will be made at a public meeting of West Somerset Council Cabinet  - approximately 10 weeks after the deadline date.
  6. If the applicant is applying for over £25,000 a decision will be made at a public meeting of West Somerset Council approximately 12 weeks after the deadline date.
  7. The applicant will be notified within 2 working days of the decision being made.

Applications for £100,000 or more

 
  1. The applicant submits an Expression of Interest online.
  2. If the organisation and project meet the eligibility criteria to apply for funding the applicant will be sent an application form via email. 
  3. The applicant returns their completed application form and the necessary supporting documents via email to hinkleycimfund@westsomerset.gov.uk on or before their chosen deadline date.
  4. An initial assessment will be carried out within 4 weeks of the deadline date.  The CIM Fund Manager may contact the applicant to request further information or clarification during this time.
  5. Applicants will be invited to the appropriate Planning Obligations Board meeting. During the meeting the Board will ask the applicant questions in relation to the application and project, wherever possible the questions will be submitted to the applicant prior to the meeting.
  6. After the interview the Planning Obligations Board will consider the application and make a recommendation to West Somerset Council.
  7. West Somerset Council Cabinet will consider the recommendation of the Planning Obligations Board and will make a recommendation to West Somerset Full Council at a public meeting approximately 14 weeks after the deadline date.
  8. West Somerset Full Council will consider the recommendation of the Planning Obligations Board and West Somerset Council Cabinet and will make a final decision in relation to the application at a public meeting approximately 16 weeks after the deadline date.
  9. The applicant will be formally notified of the final decision within 2 working days of the West Somerset Full Council meeting.
