Review of Licences/Certificates

People who live or work in the vicinity of a premises licensed to sell alcohol, provide entertainment or sell hot food or hot drink between 11pm and 5am are able to apply to the Council to review the Premises Licence or Club Premises Certificate if they are being adversely affected by the operation of the venue.

The grounds for the review must be based on one or more of the four licensing objectives:

  • prevention of crime and disorder
  • public safety
  • prevention of public nuisance
  • protection of children from harm.

The council can reject an application for review where it considers the application to be frivolous or repetitive.  Application for review must be made on the appropriate form.  You must also serve a copy of the application on:

  • the licence holder
  • police
  • fire service
  • planning
  • environmental health
  • child protection
  • trading standards.
