What we spend and how we spend it

This publication class contains financial information about the Authority's projected and actual income and expenditure, procurement, contracts and financial audit.

Where relevant, information in this class will be available for the current and previous financial years.

Financial statements, budgets and variance reports

Financial information about how the Authority spends its money, both as a whole and within individual Service Units. Planned spend, revenue budgets and budgets for capital expenditure are also included.

Payments over £500 to suppliers currently published on a quarterly basis.

Capital programme

Information is available on major plans for capital expenditure, including private finance initiatives and public-private partnership contracts where relevant.

Spending reviews and financial audit reports

Council budget monitoring reports and internal/external audit inspections looking in to how the Authority spends its money.

The Members' allowances scheme and the allowances paid under it to councillors each year. This includes the total of the allowances and expenses paid to Councillors by reference to categories such as travel, subsistence and accommodation.

Staff allowances and expenses

Details of the allowances and expenses to which officers and staff are entitled when conducting Council business.

Pay and grading structure

Salary scales for Local Government services showing grades and levels of pay for each council post.

Election expenses

Returns or declarations and accompanying documents relating to election expenses sent to the Council.

Procurement procedures

Details of the Council's procedures for acquiring goods and services.

Council Contracts

Contracts available for public tender, those currently being tendered, and those awarded.

District Auditor's report

The Annual Audit Letter provides an overall summary of the Audit Commission's assessment of the Council. It draws on the findings and conclusions from the audit of the Council, and from a wider analysis of the Council's performance and its improvement over the last year, as measured through the Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) framework.

Financial statements for projects and events

Financial reports that indicate actual expenditure against original project budgets for special projects and organised events can be accessed through the minutes of the Council's Committees, Council and Cabinet.

Internal financial regulations

Part of the Council's Constitution, this system of internal controls is established in order to provide measurable achievement of efficient and effective operations, reliable financial information and reporting, compliance with laws and regulations and risk management.

Funding for partnership arrangements

Details of funding for aspects of the Council's work conducted in partnership with other organisations in order to deliver community strategies and help promote and improve the well-being of the area.
