West Somerset Council together with the Police;Fire and Rescue Service; Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group and the Probation Service have a legal duty to work in partnership to tackle crime and disorder together with anti social behaviour; drug and alcohol abuse; re-offending and environmental harm. Other partners, who are involved with this work locally, include schools, Magna Housing West Somerset and Exmoor National Park Authority.
There is also a statutory obligation to collaborate with the Police and Crime Commissioner.
We deliver these duties through our membership of a statutory body called a Community Safety Partnership which includes representatives from all the responsible bodies within the County of Somerset.
Somerset remains one of the safest places in the country to live and work. This can be seen clearly in terms of recorded crime in comparison with other Community Safety Partnerships in England and Wales.
