Development Brief for Minehead Old Hospital

Development partner sought for old hospital

The Minehead Old Hospital Group (MOHG) is inviting developers to put forward their ideas for uses for the ancillary buildings at the back of the old hospital.  MOHG was granted a year’s grace by Somerset Primary Care Trust (PCT) last October to continue its work to establish whether the building can be put to viable community, cultural, economic uses.

The PCT has also given the group an option to put in an offer on the property on the understanding that strictures placed upon NHS Somerset mean that when the property is placed on to the public sector surplus register, it will need to secure best value for money.

During the course of their investigations, the group identified a need to develop some of the site’s ancillary buildings into an indoor tourism attraction, housing, offices or some other use to underpin hopes of achieving its aims to keep the heart of the building for the community.
