Parking Permits

Parking permits are available from the date of issue and offer a saving over normal parking fees. Whilst a parking space cannot be guaranteed, permits offer a substantial saving to regular car users, and the convenience of not having to find change for pay and display machines.

Named Car Park Permits - Valid in ONE permit named car park for ONE vehicle only.

District Permits - Valid in ALL permit locations for ONE vehicle only.

Business District Permits - Valid in ALL permit locations for ANY vehicle.

Weekly Permit - Valid in ALL permit locations for ANY vehicle (these are available from any of our Council offices and the Visitor Centre situated on Minehead Seafront). No formal application is required. These permits may also be purchased over the telephone via customer services and will be processed and posted within 5 working days.

Kilve - Beach* car park

Please note: * These locations are NOT available as a 'Named Car Park Permit'

The permit is only valid for the parking area(s) shown on the permit. An Excess Charge may be issued to your vehicle if a valid parking permit or machine ticket is not correctly displayed in accordance with the terms and conditions.

Terms and Conditions

Only one registered vehicle is permitted on all parking permits (except Business District).
They are not transferable to other vehicles (except Business District).
Permits do not guarantee you a parking space in any of the locations.
It is therefore in your interests to support our efforts to combat permit fraud and to report any suspicious circumstances to us.
Use of a permit is subject to compliance with the provisions of the West Somerset Council parking orders.
The permit is only valid in the vehicle of the registration number(s) stated. A permit is only valid when clearly displayed with a valid Road Fund Licence (car tax).
Each permit has a unique serial number and other security features that will be recorded against your details. Should we find that a permit issued to you is being used fraudulently then we will cancel the permit and not supply you with a replacement.
Permits must be clearly displayed and adequately secured in the front windscreen of the specified vehicle at all times, failure to display could result in an Excess Charge Notice being issued for which you will be liable.

How To Apply

Please download and complete the application form and return together with the appropriate payment to:

Parking Services Office, 14 - 16 Brunel Way Depot, Minehead, Somerset, TA24 5BY (Postal Address only.)

Payments can be made by cheque or postal order and should be made payable to West Somerset Council. If you wish to make a payment by cash or a debit or credit card (charge applies) you should visit one of our offices.

Upon presenting a completed application form and payment you will be issued with a temporary permit (except renewals) valid for 7 days, this must be used in you vehicle until your specific permit arrives.

We are unable to process NEW permit applications over the telephone. Permit applications are processed within 5 working days from receipt of application.
