Blue Badges

All our Pay and Display parking areas offer free parking for blue badge holders.

To assist the disabled to gain easy access to our towns and villages, our car parks have specially allocated spaces (marked in yellow). However, if these spaces are full blue badge holders may park free of charge in any marked bay elsewhere in the car park. A valid badge and time clock/disc must be displayed in all our parking bays and the registered disabled person is either driving the car or is the passenger.

Although parking is free for disability badge holders, there is a maximum stay permitted of three hours. No return is permitted within one hour.

If you do not conform to the posted disabled badge regulations you may incur an excess charge notice. Please refer to the Blue Badge Scheme, Rights & Responsibilities booklet (publication T/INF/1214) for further information. The tariff board in the car park provides full listed regulations for disabled parking.

The European Blue Badge Scheme was introduced on 1st April 2000 as existing Orange Badges were up for renewal. It was effectively a replacement for the Orange Badge Scheme which was phased out at the end of March 2003.

For further information or advice on the scheme please use the external links on the right side of this page or Telephone 0161 367 0009 or 0207 944 2914 (applications for blue badges cannot be made via this number).
