Current Projects

ARTlife aims to develop at least one new participatory project each year, working independently or in partnership with other groups and agencies.

Current projects include Creative Communities – a major community development pilot project on Exmoor linking local artists with village residents to devise new arts projects. The aim is to give people the skills and confidence to run their own community arts projects in the future, to increase the quantity and quality of home-grown arts activity in the moor.

ArtsXchange is a two-year programme of activity, skills sharing and master classes for participants across Somerset with learning disabilities, and the artists and arts organisations that specialise in working with them. ARTlife is managing this work on behalf of the Somerset Arts Officers Group.  Visit the website for more information.

Community consultation and participation projects are also being planned for The
Coleridge Way
. These will encourage people living and working along the 36-mile walking route to help create interpretation schemes, public art works and events linked to the theme of the Romantic Poets and the unique local environments the route passes through.

Alongside its own projects, ARTlife frequently part-funds work delivered by the Somerset Key Strategic Organisations (KSOs).  Previous projects have focused on world music for young people, and artists working alongside those in land-based industries like farming.
