Planning Obligation funding available
In 2010/11 £268,245.60 of Planning Obligations funding became available for community and recreation projects in and around Minehead, Williton, Watchet.
Do you need funding for a project which will benefit communities in Minehead, Williton or Watchet and the surrounding area?
Key facts:
- Projects need to be relevant and related to the development
- Projects need to benefit the local community
- Money is only available to fund capital projects (for example for a new or improved building, biodiversity or pedestrian or cycle infrastructure)
- Money is not available for revenue projects (for example the running costs of an event or a venue).
- Some agreements are restricted to one particular use (for example, only for public open space).
The deadline for applications are:
- Friday 24 February 2012
- Friday 1 June 2012
- Friday 31 August 2012
- Friday 23 November 2012

Who will decide on which projects get funding?
The Planning Obligations Group (POG) at West Somerset Council will assess ‘expressions of interest’ from applicants. If successful, the applicant will be invited to submit a full application. The applications and comments will be assessed by the POG, before final decisions are made by West Somerset Council's Cabinet.
