West Somerset Local Plan Issues and Options consultations
Regulation 25 Issues consultation July 2009:
An eight week period of consultation took place from July to September 2009 giving formal notification of the preparation of the West Somerset Local Development Framework Core Strategy* and inviting representations about the key issues to be addressed by the Core Strategy and what the document should contain.
* now known as the West Somerset Local Plan to 2032.

A Sustainability Appraisal Baseline Study and Scoping Report, supported by a range of topic papers had also been prepared to inform the preparation of the Core Strategy. These documents can be downloaded from the Sustainability Appraisal page.
As the result of this consultation exercise the Council identified a list of Key Issues to be addressed and these formed one of the main inputs into the preparation of the strategy options.
Options consultation March 2010:
An eight week period of consultation was carried out from 29th March 2010 to 24th May 2010.
Working on the basis of the results of the issues consultation, the existing policy context and evidence about the area, the Council evolved a series of strategy options and suggested topics to be covered by policies. A Strategy Options Paper setting these out was prepared (March 2010). This was subject to an extensive consultation exercise including six manned events in locations across the plan area.
