Seeking Advice & Choosing Your Builder
It is not the Council's policy to recommend particular tradesmen or tradeswomen.
Unless you have a reasonable working knowledge of building construction it would be advisable before the work is begun to obtain professional advice (eg from an architect, or a structural engineer, or a building surveyor) and to choose a recognised or recommended builder to carry out the work.
The Government’s Trust Mark scheme can help you find builders who have been independently checked, on-site, to make sure they have the skills and resources to do the job properly. The names of any registered firms in your area, and information about the scheme, can be obtained from their website (under External Link), or via email enquiries@trustmark.org.uk
