Strategy

The key driving force for the Partnership is to deliver a cost effective and efficient service to the customer. The customer can be a member of the public, Member of a Council, an agency or organisation, or members of staff and services within a Council.
In order to provide the service, the Partnership have to have a clear direction. This direction is provided through the Private Sector Renewal Strategy. The strategy sets out the over arching principles of delivery including:
- Consolidation of the business with the inclusion of Taunton Deane
- Meeting the needs and aspirations of the communities in Sedgemoor, Taunton Deane and West Somerset given the financial position of the economy
- Expansion of the voluntary sector to assist vulnerable people to meet their aspirations of a decent home and raising their minimum income level
- Drawing together joint funding opportunities to assist with the delivery of the Strategy
- Improving the condition of the private rented sector through the Landlord Accreditation Scheme
- Providing disabled adaptations through the Disabled Facilities Grant infrastructure
- Reducing the numbers of vulnerable people living in fuel poverty and the need for hospitalisation as a result of cold related illnesses
- Reducing the fear of crime in communities by ensuring safe and secure housing
- Reducing hazards in the home and making the home a safer environment
- Reducing the number of empty properties by bringing them back into use and tackling under-occupancy
Because the over arching principles of the Private Sector Renewal Strategy are broad there has to be more detailed delivery vehicles. These vehicles are the sub strategies and polices. The sub strategies contain detailed information on delivery of the key themes and the resources assigned to tasks both in financial and staffing terms. Below is a list of the key sub strategies and policies.
