Performance
Welcome to West Somerset Council's Performance information.
Measuring our performance matters to everyone at West Somerset Council.
Monitoring and assessing our performance ensures that we are serving our residents and communities well.
We collect information or data about how our services are performing which we report to central government and the public. Some of the data we collect is statutory, that is, all councils are required to collect this data. This allows us to understand how we are performing in relation to other similar councils.
Senior managers will use performance information to ensure that services, teams and individuals are performing to agreed service levels and that services respond to what is important to local people.
Cabinet use performance information to help make decisions about where to direct our resources, check that policy decisions are being carried out and that our communities are being well served.
The Scrutiny Committee scrutinise performance information and feed back any issues that they feel the Cabinet need to be aware of.
Increasingly, local people and partners can use performance information, to hold the council to account and have a bigger say on what happens in their communities.
