Racial Incidents Reporting

In June 2003 the Council launched a scheme for reporting racial incidents.

A 'racial incident' is defined as any incident (against a person or property) that is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person.

Monitoring racial harassment will provide a more accurate picture about the nature of racial attacks, harassment and violence in West Somerset as this type of crime often goes unreported.

You can report an incident to West Somerset Council, the Police, your Housing Association if applicable or by calling the Somerset Racial Equality Council on tel: 01935 414911.
